TEXT

The potential of the new Bordeaux Stadium thrives from its particular location, existing at the intersection between quality natural surroundings to highlight to the north, and a landscape pattern of agglomeration to elaborate upon to the south. What’s more, it is a territory already traversed by natural structuring corridors. The planning and development associated with the creation of the stadium therefore marks an essential step towards fulfilling the bocage countrysidelayout established for the Northern Bypass Sector of Bordeaux, under the city's official landscape guidelines.

Our proposal contains the ambition of laying out and prefiguring future developments, based upon the targets set forth for decreasing urban density when in proximity with natural spaces. It reinterprets the exceptional qualities of the bocage countryside layout already characterizing the site at the larger landscape level. It is a language of forested cordons, serving to frame the principal access roads, defining a structure for the whole which is thus arranged into numerous, permeable sections. These serve in integrating the different neighboring, exterior spaces of the stadium, which include a large square at the entrance, parking lots, and ecological corridors. Naturalistic groves are arranged quite freely, allowing for various urban uses within a landscape that makes its presence felt.
