3 QUARTIERS POST-CARBON

SHARE2023-2032
The Guide Plan for the Jardin des Plantes of Paris is a landscape planning tool that sets out, for a 10-year horizon, the main lines of development and replanting of the Historic Monument.
The Jardin des Plantes of Paris is the former royal garden of medicinal plants. It is a unique historical garden which is above all a living garden.
All of its plantings are inventoried, referenced and labelled, making it a botanical garden.Like the Museum's other naturalist collections, it represents a scientific heritage and a tool for research and education which has been modified many times in line with the scientific developments of each era.
The Guide Plan must therefore reconcile art and science in constant evolution; The aim is to preserve a remarkable and educational setting.

LANDSCAPE IN ACTION

Winner of the "Réinventer Paris competition" in 2016, the Morland Mixité Capitale project aims to rehabilitate the former administrative site of the Paris prefecture. Conceived and designed by David Chipperfield Architects, CALQ Architecture and Michel Desvigne Paysagiste, it will reveal an original programme open to all publics. The project involves the structural and architectural rehabilitation of the former municipal administrative site, including the cleaning and rehabilitation of the existing building, the creation of two basement levels and the construction of new buildings on the Seine side and on the boulevard Morland side. On the ground floor, its paved courtyard and arches form a contemporary square, with active, inhabited streets and planted spaces.

SHARE« Land and cities »

What the jury thought: "A powerful statement about the dimension of the landscape. Without any anecdotal development. With a few lines and very few elements, this incredibly powerful project succeeded in transforming a place of waste. The public space catches the poetry of the void, the city, the ocean and the rough modernity of the Perret brothers' architecture".

SHARETRANSFORMING LANDSCAPESPublication director: Françoise Fromonot
Birkhäuser, Basel. 2020
For close to thirty years, Michel Desvigne has designed and implemented numerous major projects in France and around the world. This book presents in detail ten of these territorial scale operations. What intentions, strategies and professional culture underscore their design process? What landscapes and uses are produced by these projects that mature over a long period of time? In this book, Michel Desvigne reflects on these questions, which are central to his practice, and on the main themes that run through his work. His insights and analysis are complemented by the observations of architecture critic Françoise Fromonot, landscape historian Dorothée Imbert, philosopher Gilles A. Tiberghien and photographer Patrick Faigenbaum.
