TEXT

This prototype, completed within the framework of the official landscape guidelines established for the city of Bordeaux, responds to two objectives. First and foremost, we were tasked with the creation of a new entrance and parking lot on the park's southern side. However the project also called for the creation of an overarching concept for the space, capable of being applied in other contexts.

The area was initially composed solely of a large asphalt parking lot, like those typically found in the outskirts of large French cities, often in association with shopping centers. How then to introduce vegetation into the area, with limited resources and without actually changing what the area is used for?

In order to accomplish the task, we dug out large parallel trenches around the parking area, in which trees were planted very close together. Cordons of trees were created as a result, giving the illusion of neighboring wooded areas. A top mixture of earth and stone ensured the durability of these planted ditches.
