The Villevert estate is located in the heart of a territory distinguished by the presence of several exceptional natural and landscaped sites. The estate is bordered by the national forest and park of Marly-le-Roi to the north, by the national forest of Louveciennes to the east, and by the park of Versailles to the south. Within the framework of its transformation, the estate assumes in part the scale and landscape identity of the major sites that encircle it. The challenge of the project lies not only in how to approach the site's edges but in treating its central part as well.
The landscape of the estate's central expanse is influenced by the landscape vocabulary of the large parks around it. A number of large hedges are created by the planting of individual trees, which serve in shaping the site. The structuring hedges are lined up in two directions: a principal network of parallel hedges, and a secondary network of perpendicular hedges.
The landscape of the estate's edges succeeds in maintaining a continuity with the major spaces that encircle it. Wooded areas ensure continuity with the larger forests surrounding, while orchards establish a smooth transition to the agricultural space within. The landscape aims to be as simple and legible as possible, descending towards the group of constructions making up the estate in a unified manner, in particular through the utilization of a limited and harmonious range of plants.
