TEXT

In the heart of an office building complex completed by Norman Foster, the insertion of a miniaturized natural setting gives breadth to the rigorous geometric space.

A courtyard extends from the back of the plot of land up until the street. Two parts of the building structure cross the courtyard, coming to outline two successive patio areas of different heights and sizes. Visible from the exterior, this space is host to a geometrically elementary landscape, closely linked to the configuration of the architectural surroundings. Its components are arranged into distinct surfaces.

In the large patio area bathed in natural light, a garden brings together a number of plant strata superimposed one on top of another. This natural setting is set up following an inclined rectangular plan that succeeds in visually multiplying the dense and abundant presence of vegetation. Following the same slope in the ground, a small body of water leads down to the lower patio alongside a stone staircase.

The lower patio area is made up of a large basin, a source of both reflected light and reflections. A set of stone pontoons leads across the basin to a square platform. The very fine arrangement of the ground layout, as well as of the glass handrails, impart a sense of rigor to the compositional whole.
