The Jardin des Plantes of Paris is the former royal garden of medicinal plants. It is a unique historical garden which is above all a living garden.
All of its plantings are inventoried, referenced and labelled, making it a botanical garden.
Like the Museum's other naturalist collections, it represents a scientific heritage and a tool for research and education which has been modified many times in line with the scientific developments of each era.
The Guide Plan must therefore reconcile art and science in constant evolution; The aim is to preserve a remarkable and educational setting.
