The Place du Salin square is located on the outskirts of the historic Toulouse city center. It houses the historic entrance to the Toulouse courthouse, a recently renovated building that dates from the early 20th century. The northern and western sides of the square, lined with shops and outdoor seating, are converted into traffic-free spaces. Reducing the parking area makes the courthouse entrance more legible, with temporary and adaptable outlines on the new porphyry surfacing serving to indicate parking spaces. At the heart of the square, the traditional aggregate surfacing is preserved and restored. Here, beneath soaring plane trees, new custom-designed street furniture and a children’s playground round out the space.
