The urban pocket framed by the roads New Change, Cheapside, Breat Street, and Watling Street, has been rebuilt by Jean Nouvel. In order to complete and enhance the existing network of roads, for the most part shopping areas, a new road cuts across the quadrilateral, establishing a strong visual relationship with Saint Paul's cathedral.
The new layout of the urban pocket, connecting it as it does with numerous neighboring streets, multiplies the ways in which it can be traversed. At its center, a crossroads of these pathways serves as a contemporary legacy to London's historic shopping arcades. Around and above which there are arranged floors of offices and businesses, but there is direct access provided to the terrace by a panoramic elevator.
