TEXT

The park of Monte Carlo is to be considerably redesigned within its surface dimensions. We proposed expanding upon the scope of the plan to encompass not only the park at the center of the project, but as well the surrounding roads and numerous private spaces. Expanding the park into a large, inhabited space, where the city and its commercial activity are invited within. A new park approached and treated in a consistent and collective manner.

The remodeling of the ground allows for the rediscovery of its topography. This new design moves away from the accumulation of planted terraces towards the creation of one large terrain made up of gardened slopes, arranged around and within large mineral or green expanses. The roads are contained within the mineral areas without however limiting the dimensions of these areas.

The landscape of the park is organized though a superimposition of successive and independent strata: the ground, openings in the ground that connect to underground areas, the already existing fountains, suspended plant canopies covering the constructed elements of the park as well as concealing the ground openings, a lower layer of trees (of familiar type), a higher layer of trees (of exotic type).

From strictly being used as a public space, the functions and uses of the park are enlarged upon through the integration of private areas and activities.
