Positioned on the edge of the urban agglomeration of Reims, the new high-speed TGV Champagne-Ardenne train station opens onto a vast territory of one hundred and seventy hectares bound to undergo transformation. The city has fixed itself the task of bringing its progressive urbanization under control through the development of a coherent masterplan. Many studies prefiguring the future have been brought forward, studies that meet the goals of a sustainable development, and reconcile the environment, the landscape, and the urban identity of Reims.
A “park-city” is taking shape, with airy spaces across its wide perspectives, where service industry activities combine with medium density housing, and where the important equilibrium between urban and rural is maintained, along with high-quality environmental principles. In servicing, sanitation, and landscape, innovative and alternative techniques are therefore used in regards to the treatment of the ground and water management, with the aim of providing a natural framework for urbanization.
