The Place Arago square is situated in the Marengo-Périole neighborhood. Close to the train station and Toulouse city center, this highly sought-after neighborhood boasts a dynamic urban atmosphere alongside a deep-rooted identity. Before our redevelopment, the Place Arago square was primarily a parking area: its design was fragmented and overrun with vehicle traffic, its characteristic circular layout and 19th-century row houses lost in the noise, and its overall appeal worse for wear. Now, the square has been transformed into a vast public space that deftly balances lush green vegetation with reimagined hardscape. Newly planted trees at the center of the square enrich the existing circle of centuries-old Sophora, while beds bursting with shrubs and flowering plants brighten the layers of greenery and enhance the textural experience. Hardscape surfaces are once again paved with locally crafted brick. Through community engagement with local stakeholders, vehicle traffic has been reduced to prioritize pedestrians and cyclists. Today, the Place Arago square is peaceful, calm, and welcoming, remade into a revitalized community space and prized neighborhood landmark.
